Malaysia Week just finished and I had a great time. It was really different from my normal life at home but I guess that's why I enjoyed it so much. I also probably enjoyed it a lot because of all of the activities that we did. Okay, I'll start with the first day...
After we arrived in Belum (after about a 5 hour bus ride) we had to take a speedboat to Royal Belum. The ride was really fun. The view throughout the ride was also very beautiful. Anyways, after we arrived in Royal Belum, we ate lunch and had a quick meeting, we went swimming in the river for a while. That was pretty much it for the first day. The next day we did much more. First we went on a short hike (2-3 hours) and then we were in groups and had different stations for survival skills. There was orienteering, sign reading, trap setting, and fire building. We also went swimming later on (we went swimming nearly every day) and then, at night, we had the first round of Belum Idol! It was like American Idol and quite a few people (including teachers) sang. Then, on the third day, we also did a lot. We went to the Orang Asli Village in the morning. There, we played games with the Orang Asli and colored with them. Also, some of us got to try their instruments and blow pipes. After that, we went bamboo rafting. It was really exciting, although we moved very slowly. When we were deep into the river, we went swimming for a while, with life jackets (of course)! We went back and swam for a while longer and then that was about the end of the 3rd day on Malaysia Week. Then, on the last day where actually do something on Malaysia Week (we were just going to be traveling home the next day), we went on a hike. It wasn't just a normal short easy hike to nowhere. It was a long difficult (but fun) hike to see the Rafflesia! On just that 5 hour hike, I got over ten leeches! It was worth it, though. The hike was beautiful. We hiked uphill, downhill, and through many small rivers. In the end, we saw the Rafflesia and some that hadn't bloomed yet. That was about it for the last day. After the hike, we went back to our area where we were staying and had free time. All though, at night we had the last few rounds of Belum Idol. The next day, we went home. That is what I did on Malaysia Week.

Hi Christina, my name is Catie! You sound like a really cool girl! I will tell you about myself. I have an older sister and a mom and dad. My sister is really cool I look up to her. I have to dogs named lilly and liza. Also I have a cat named skip. I love to shop. I used to do cheer but I don't know if I'm going to do it next year, I didn't have a good time. I love my life and school. Please comment back, this is soo much fun!
Hi Christina! It souned like you had lots of fun on Malaysia Week! The bus ride there and back must have been really boring! I think that its really cool that you guys learned about survival! I love going on trips to different places like that!
Belum Idol sounds fun! It must have been funny to listen to your teachers sing! Bamboo rafting sounds so much fun! I'm going white water rafting next year in eighth grade! I also love to travel and see beautiful places! I'm glad you had a great time!
Hey Catie,
Okay, so I don't think I really told you much about my family and moi. So, I will now. Ok, I have two younger siblings named Daniel and Juliana. They are in 1st and 4th grade (and I also have my mom and dad), and I have a dog too. I only have one real pet (not counting some fish in a small pond we have). My dog's name is Nikki. We've had her for about four years. I used to have a rabbit in America but we had to give him away when we moved here, to Malaysia :-(. Anyways, I am half American and half Peruvian (I have no clue how to spell Peruvian...or is it Peruvien)? Okay, so my Mom's from Peru and my dad's from America. My family and I are moving back to America this year (in June). I'm really excited but we're not going back to Massachusetts, though. We're going to Sharon. I would love to here some more about you also. Please answer back :-),
Cristina
Hi Jenna,
Yeah, I really did have loads of fun on Malaysia Week. We did many activities there but you know that from my post. The bus ride was okay. It was preety funny because lots of people were singing for nearly the whole bus ride ( I wasn't one of them, lol). It was entertaining, though, to listen to everyone singing different songs. I also read a little and talked to people so it was pretty fun. So, onto Belum Idol. Yeah, it was really fun to here the teachers sing. You don't usually get to here that so it was different as well. Bamboo rafting was really fun. But it was really hard to control the rafts. Once, my groups bamboo raft went under a bunch of low trees hanging over the river (accidentally). We were all ducking and trying not to get hit by the trees but it was still lots of fun. I've never been white water rafting before. It seems fun but kind of scary too. Have you ever been on any kind of trip in 7th grade (or in any grade)? If so, I would love to here about it,
bye :-)
Cristina
